Pistol shooting
The club is currently expanding its activity in sub 6ftlb pistol shooting with a range of pistols owned and shot by club members.
Members and guests are permitted to shoot .177, .22 pellet and metal BB pistols. Plastic BB balls are not permitted due to the uncontrolled ricochet risks.
We shoot paper targets for scoring, and have a number of plinking targets for practice.
With increasing interest in pistol shooting, we will further expand the pistol shooting activity throughout the year including "metal plate speed shooting".
If you are interested in pistol shooting, please come along and help us expand our activity in this area.
Pistol shooting takes place in the same field as the rifle shooting and is subject to the same safety rules.

I.P.A.S. - Iron Plate Action Shooting
Iron plate action shooting or I.P.A.S, is the action shooting discipline, designed specifically for the multi shot Co2 and Air cartridge pistols and is a different form of “speed shooting”.
IPAS is good for clubs wanting to shoot rapid fire pistol within limited space and with range equipment that’s easy to construct, set up and clear away/store, it also is appealing to the phyiscaly disabled as there is no movement required other than to draw the pistol.
IPAS was started in 2000 as an alternative to the “Steel Challenge” after we sadly lost our “real’ guns”. Competitions involve the shooting of several stages consisting of between two and five metal plates measuring 10″, 12″ or 12”x 18” in size and set out at varying ranges and angles. These different but challenging layouts need to be hit in the fastest time possible.
Each stage is shot 5 times with the slowest of the times being discarded, the remaining four are then added together to give you a total time for the stage, this is your score. It’s fast, it’s furious and most of all, it’s fun.
The discipline relies on two basic principles: accuracy and speed
