2014 Christmas Turkey 3 positional shoot
Club member results
The 2014 SIHFT season was another great success with high turnout at most events and some challenging courses. The weather played its part to add to the challenges, 1.5 mil dot windage at 8yds is always going to be a fun course...
Special thanks to all the club members throughout the SIHFT who helped set up, marshall, score, and dismantle the courses at each event.
Swallows had a good SIHFT this year with Alex taking overall 1st place in the Primary class, Tom taking 2nd overall in the Junior class, and Mike and Steve light coming in the top 10 in the Open class and Dave Walden coming 7th in the recoil class.

2014 SIHFT Prize giving - Mile Oak
The Mile Oak team put on another great course for the 2014 SIHFT prize giving event. The wind was, always seems to be the case at Mile Oak, blowing nicely to give many shots that extra interest. However, still some good scores achieved. The "team up and share" for this event added to the enjoyment and learning.
Swallows members did well this year with Alex taking overall 1st place in the Primary class, Tom taking 2nd overall in the Junior class and Mike, Steve Light and Dave Walden coming in the top 10 in the open and recoiling classes.
The Swallows team achieved 4th place overall and we entered full team numbers in every round; congratulations to all who participated in the competitions and thanks to all the club members who helped to set up and run the 2 Swallows hosted events this year; both were great successes.
We all look forward to the 2015 SIHFT season.

2014 SIHFT Round 10 - Buxted
A great end to the 2014 SIHFT competition season with some challenging targets. Looking at some of the target plates many of us were caught out by the invisible wind blowing from the right....
Swallows fielded a good number of members on this round which helped to give us 3rd place on the day.
Congratulations to Alex for another gold and his first ever platinum.

2014 SIHFT Round 9 - Swallows
Swallows put on another good course made more challenging by unexpected breezes which didn't know whether to come from the left or right so mixed it up...
Thanks go out to everyone who helped set up the course and run the competition on Sunday - great food as always from Mike and Kerry.
It was great to have Allen shoot in this round, his first for some time and a great score achieved. Thanks Allen for bolstering the team score.
Well done to Vince for a credible score despite the jet-lag, or was it Guinness-lag and to Mike for getting his platinum for 5 golds.

2014 SIHFT Round 8 - Horsham
Horsham gratefully turned on the "Good Weather" switch today which was a stark contrast to the howler at Ford in round 7. A great mix of targets in the woods posed many challenges for ranging through the "tunnel effect" of the trees, dappled shade, and bright sunshine backdrops giving a wide spread of scores throughout the entrants.
Congratulations to Andy from Buxted for a clear round 60, great shooting...
Open class : Gold medal winner - Steve Light (56). Bronze medal winners - Mike (52), Steve Noakes (52).
Primary class : Silver medal winner - Alex (47).

2014 SIHFT Round 7 - Ford
Round 7 at Ford always had the possibility to be tricky with the notorious windy conditions we know and "love" and it certainly lived up to expectations. Lashing horizontal rain and blustery wind challenged even the experienced shooters - bracing yourself to hold steady against the strong wind and then it would suddenly dissapear just as the trigger was pulled. Donuts weren't uncommon in this round thanks to the gusting wind.
However, a great competition and good banter as we huddled with our backs to the wind and rain asking "why are we doing this on a Sunday morning ..."
No Golds or Silvers for Swallows this time but we did enter a full team so everyone's scores counted as Team Scores.
Open class : Just 2 Bronze medal winners - Steve Light (47), Mike (45)
With a low collective score we dropped to 4th place overall but still time to claw it back - well done team for turning out despite Hurricane Burther.
For those already holding 6 scores, there were no changes to their scores from Round 7. Steve Noakes and Gerry accrued 6 scores from this round adding to the overall Swallows count:
Top place so far to Mike with 332, followed by Steve Light (326), Kim (302), Vince (300), Steve Noakes (280), Dave Standing (271), Carla (267) and Gerry (255).

2014 SIHFT Round 6 - Mile Oak "The Oaks"
Mile Oak never fails to deliver challenging courses and Round 6 didn't deviate from tradition.
The weather was hot and humid and the "Mile Oak Breeze" kept things interesting and the targets in the woods proved challenging to range and shoot.
No Golds for Swallows in this round but still solid scores for the team.
Open class : Silver medal winners - Mike (52), Steve Light (52), Vince (50). Bronze medal winners - Kim (49), Dave Standing with a 2014 personal best 49, Eli (46)
Recoil class : Bronze medal winner - Dave Walden (44)
After round 6, we held onto 3rd place overall in the team rankings - well done team....
Round 6 is the first opportunity to see how we're doing overall - keeping our best 6 rounds for the year end results. Top place so far to Mike with 332, followed by Steve Light (326), Kim (302), Vince (300), Dave Standing (271) and Carla (267).

2014 SIHFT Round 5 - Buxted
A very enjoyable mornings shooting at Buxted on the challenging course in the 2 woods. There was no wind but the dappled shade, many long range targets, glare from the sun at the edges of the woods, deceptive target placement giving confusing ranging and those infamous tree-climbing fish and rabbits all added up to a great course which tested even the more experienced shooters.
Not many golds won overall and only one for Swallows, well done Steve Light.
Unfortunately there are no photos taken during the competition to share as we were all concentrating.
Congratulations to Alex for a new PB of 51, it seems the work done on the Brocock - re-aligned the barrel, removed the silencer, modified the stock and replaced the scope with a new Hawke Panorama has had the desired result.
Open class : Gold medal winner - Steve Light (56). Silver medal winners - Mike (53), Steve Noakes (52), Kim (52). Bronze medal winners - Vince (51), Dave Standing (47).
Primary class : Gold medal winner - Alex with a personal best 51.
At the end of this competition round, Swallows came back up to 3rd place overall; steadily chasing the leaders... well done team.

2014 SIHFT Round 4 - Swallows
The first competition hosted by Swallows this year was a great success. The course was split over 3 sections which gave great variety to the target positions, wind direction and strength, and challenges in ranging. Well done Mike for creating an enjoyable course and a near perfect round of 59 as well.
The weather was very kind over the weekend with no rain to hinder setting up on Friday and Saturday and warm on Sunday to keep spirits up.
For this event, Swallows FTC saw the formal debut of the "Swallows" target and club banner which gave very positive impressions for the club's identity.
Special thanks go out to the team who helped set up the course, marshalling and for general organisation. Mike Burgess put it very well in his AirgunBBS forum entry:
"I expect I was not alone among Swallows FTC members feeling the aches of many days hard work to prepare today’s course. As a result, I’ll kick off by naming those who gave so much of their time. Gerry and Stewart Jellicoe (equipment and ground clearance, shed management and cooking), Steve Noakes, Dave, Carla, Vince, Kim and Peter who contributed between them many days effort collecting together our new target lofting posts, putting out ropes, hacking brambles and 7’ tall nettles and the course setting itself yesterday. Thank you all – lots and lots and lots. One extra special thanks to Steve Noakes for hand making our new club-related Swallows In Flight target."
Each competition, at least one member achieves another PB for the year and we continue to collect medals too. Great to have all our club competition entrants winning a medal in this round. Congratulations to all the medal winners :
Open class : Gold medal winners - Mike (59) so close to a perfect 60, Steve Light (57). Silver medal winners - Vince with a personal best 54 and Kim (53). Bronze medal winners - Steve Noakes (50), Carla (48), Dave Standing (47).
Primary class : Gold medal winner - Alex (48) - great score considering he shot sharing his Dad's S400
Junior class : Bronze medal winner - Tom with a great score of 45, a good improvement on last time.
At the end of this round we dropped to 4th place but only by a few points so we'll claw that back over the coming rounds. Well done team....

2014 SIHFT Round 3 - Horsham
A great competition at Horsham, always a nice mix of targets in the filed and in the woods. The weather was kind to us for a change; no rain but a good breeze in the field and through some of the wooded sections to keep everything interesting.
Swallows continued to do well with a good range of scores in all categories and a number of personal best scores to celebrate.
Congratulations to all the medal winners :
Open class : Gold medal winner - Mike with an impressive 58. Silver medal winners - Steve Light (53) and Kim (52). Bronze medal winners - Vince with a personal best 51, Steve Noakes (51) and Carla achieving a personal best 50.

2014 SIHFT Round 2 - Ford
Ford never fails to provide interesting breezes and round 2 was no exception. No rain but a great deal of wind to tax the mind and test your nerve. 1.5 mil dots at 15 yards awesome !!
A great competition though, and congratulations to Ford for winning the round - 2nd time since SIHFT started if I recall.
Congratulations to Mike for a great score of 56, just 1 off the top score of the day. A well deserved Gold.
Congratulations also to the medal winners : Steve Light for his Gold with 55, Alex (42) and Dave Walden (46) for their Silver medals, and Kim (49), Vince (48) and Eli (48) for their bronze medals.
It's great to have Kim Lum join Swallows from this round, welcome to the club Kim.
Our team score from round 2 puts Swallows in joint 3rd place overall so far. Well done team...

2014 SIHFT Round 1 - Mile Oak "The Oaks"
Mile Oak put on a great competition to open the season. The weather was forecast to be wet and windy and it certainly was a bit breezy with thankfully less rain during the competition than expected.
A great competition for Swallows with 10 members shooting on the day which was a terrific turnout and 8 medals won. Our overall team result puts us in 3rd place after the first round which is a massive improvement from last year.
This year we welcome Steve Light shooting with our Swallows team; his experience and skill is a great asset to the club.
Congratulations to Gerry for beating his 2013 best score with 46 and a bronze medal.
Congratulations to Alex for beating his 2013 best score by 4 points with 48 and a silver medal. I had the pleasure to shoot with Alex on the day and whilst I was scoring 3 donuts he was hitting everything and enjoying showing me how it could be done... well done son.

2014 "3 positional" club competition
Round 1 - The opening round of the club's "3 position" competition where 10 targets are shot in 3 positions - prone, kneeling and standing. Congratulations to Eli for round 1 top score of 56.
Round 2 - What a difference a bit of sun makes... It was great to see so many members today enjoying the sun which has finally arrived. A good-humoured round with a great mix of friendly advice (thanks Mike and Gerry for showing Vince and Steve "how to stand"), the encouraging "Great Shot..." for getting those difficult kills, and the friendly banter to keep us on our toes. Well done to Mike for round 2 best score of 54.
Thanks go out to Gerry for having given all the targets a service and full strip and repaint, the targets looked too good to hit (but they did get peppered as we're not that good yet....) and to Stuart for cooking the great bacon sandwiches and burgers; Sunday's wouldn't be complete without them.
Round 3 - The weather could be described as "challenging"; beautiful sunshine with variable wind strengths broken by occasional heavy rain and hailstone showers. Despite the weather, this round saw Personal Bests for Dave, Gerry, Steve and Vince and overall improvements in the kneeling and standing shots which will be useful confidence boosters for the SIHFT rounds coming up.

Round 4 - Another good round with some challenging targets; especially target No. 10 which was a 15mm kill placed at a "ridiculous" distance which certainly got the better of some of us. Well done to Mike for another good round and for 6-pointing target 10 !
Today Carla brought her new MPR for its debut shoot - a great air rifle which I'm sure will serve her well in the SIHFT competitions.
Round 4 also saw the debut of the new Swallows target created by Steve one of our club members.

Round 5 - Typical bank holiday weather brought in the rain throughout the morning to interrupt the shooting but good reason to have bacon sandwiches, drink coffee and chat in the "clubhouse".
Being the last round of the competition the top positions were all up for grabs and saw Vince having a personal best 54 and the top score for the day and Dave hitting a 53 personal best as well.
With 5 rounds complete, the final scores settled the 3 top places :
Dave Standing in first place with 244 overall.
Vince Guy in second place with 241 overall.
Gerry Jellicoe in third place with 231 overall.
Congratulations to all entrants; a great pre-season competition and confidence booster for the SIHFT season.
